Three More Reasons To Love Your Phone Bill

Today we’re announcing three new features that we’re really excited about.

The Network Tab

For most people, the best thing about Skydeck is the way we re-organize your address book around the people that are most important to you (and the people you’ve been neglecting). You could have a thousand names in your address book, but Skydeck knows who belongs at the top of your list.

We call it your true social network: your most important personal and professional relationships. But it’s just the ‘first degree’. Who are their most important connections?

Network Tab

Starting today, Skydeck members can share their true networks. As in the Address Book, the people that you don’t really know fall to the bottom of your Network, and the people that your connections don’t really know fall to the bottom of theirs - because in real life nobody has 500 equal connections.

All of your data remains private by default, and everything is under your control. We don’t show who calls whom. We show ’signal bars’, just like the bars on your cell phone, to suggest how strong a connection really is, and we’ve added those bars to your Address Book too so you can get a sense for what they mean. Try it now.

The Skydeck APIs

You’ve told us that you want your cell phone calls to appear in Salesforce, your calendar, and your email client, you want to know who your top friends on Facebook and MySpace really are, and you want to see all this data back where it belongs: on your phone.

We can’t do everything, so today we’re announcing a set of APIs that allow independent developers to create applications like these for you. Very few developers have ever had the chance to work with cell phone data, so we’re excited to see what people come up with.

Plaxo Integration

You imported your address book into Skydeck. Going through your call log, you found 5 cell phone numbers that you never knew you had. The next day you added 10 new contacts to Outlook. Now what?

Our number one most-requested feature was a way to keep your Skydeck Address Book in sync with your desktop address book. Most people asked
for Plaxo by name. We’ve allowed you to import from Plaxo (1-way) for a while, but now you can stay in sync.

To set it up, go to your Address Book in Skydeck and look for the ‘Sync To Plaxo’ button.

Changes to our privacy policy

We’re very serious about privacy and security. One way we show this is by letting you know whenever we change our Privacy Policy. It won’t happen often, but the Network tab and APIs are major features and we needed to include them. Follow the link to see the changes.

Once again, thanks for testing Skydeck. We’re very grateful for all the feedback we’ve received. We’re still in an invitation-only private beta, and we have lots of great features to come before our official launch later this year.
