Job Opportunities

Engineering

We are looking for a few outstanding engineers who love working on large problems and who prefer working at early-stage companies, where they can have a big impact on the products and the culture. We are building systems ranging from large-scale, distributed services to tightly integrated mobile software running on handsets, so we want programmers with the versatility and passion to work in and lead any and all of these development areas.

A Different Approach to Software

At Skydeck we use the sharpest tools available or build our own when needed. We’re not hiring for the same Java or .NET jobs you see advertised elsewhere. We’re solving complex problems simply and quickly through functional programming. If you’re looking for a better way to develop software and think static types, type inference and higher order functions improve productivity, then you’ll love programming at Skydeck. We work in OCaml (with some Java, C++, and JavaScript when needed), but don’t worry if you haven’t programmed in OCaml before. We’ll help you dive right in and be productive quickly.

A Fun and Productive Environment

We love programming and love to do it well. We’re building a great environment, team, and company where developing elegant and maintainable software is highly valued. We are committed both to our own community and to the larger community of programmers; we like to help one another learn, and we support contributing to open source projects. Like a lot of companies, we can offer you sodas in the fridge and dual wide screen LCD monitors, but beyond that we offer a place where you can do the best work that you are capable of.

If this sounds like you, send your resume to jobs@skydeck.com. We would love to hear about fun problems that you’ve solved and side-projects that you’ve worked on, and what you think is wrong with the cell phone market in the US or abroad.

We provide competitive salaries, stock options, health insurance, and free food when you need it. We’re located in downtown San Mateo, just a short walk from the Caltrain station, cheap parking, and many fine places to eat.
