Skydeck knows who you call most often, who you called recently, and who never calls you back. It uses this information to re-organize your address book so that the people who are most important to you come first and all the people whom you call regularly are on the first page. Skydeck takes into account many factors including the total volume of calls and text messages, the frequency, the time of day, how long it has been since you last spoke or texted each other, and more. The exact formula is a secret sauce, like the algorithms that other sites use to weigh your friends’ news feeds, or to rank news stories that users submit.
Remember that we only know about your call records. If you sit next to one person all day long and chat with another via IM, but you never call either, they won’t have a rank in Skydeck. After taking this into account, if you still feel that our ranking is completely wrong please write to us and tell us why, so that we can keep improving our formula.
If you are a new member and you were not able to import any call history from your cell phone account, it will take Skydeck a little while to learn which contacts are important. In the meantime your contacts will appear in alphabetical order.
You can switch to alphabetical order anytime and Skydeck offers other choices too.
